2009 Festival Dedication
This Sixth Wise Woman's Festival honors the memory of all our wonderful Elders who have passed on, my dearest friends Tara Silverfox, Cherie MacArthur, and Cathleen Carter;also my Animal Communication mentor, Kay Cornish Mann, Brenda Henson, Kay Gardner, MidwifeJana Berino, and Barbara Vogel who illustrated the Wise Woman's Tarot.
Each year this list gets longer as some of us make that journey to the other side of the Veil.Their bodies may have left this world but the impact that each has made lives on. I know that when we gather around the Sacred Fires at the Festival each year that they stand beside us.
These are challenging times for all on so many levels and sometimes it may feel to some like it is too much trouble to carve out the time in our lives to gather with our sisters. Actually gathering to regenerate our energies that have been sapped by living in a Patriarchal world is precisely what we need most so that we can do more than just survive. YOU CAN'T KILL THE SPIRIT!
We know things from deep Inside our cores. Some of us have worked in these realms for many Moons while others are in the first stages of discovery. We all have things to teach each other, to remind each other of what we know, to remember to use the tools that we have, and to reach out to others who may help us find or maintain our paths.
As Aurora and I pondered about what the theme for this festival, we knew that REJUVENATION and EMPOWERMENT were key to the needs of woman at this time.It is also most crucial to help PASS THE TORCH on to the younger women who will need to carry this predominantly oral tradition into the future.
This is indeed a time of Change and there is truly the opportunity for PROFOUND CHANGES to release us from the constraints and limits of the power structures as we have known them. We are co-creating a counter culture founded on more humane and ethical values AND THESE IDEAS HAVE BEEN "CATCHING ON" Those of us who have carried this torch for freedom and woman wisdom for many years must notice that we have in fact manifested some of our best visions. And... there are still many more positive visions for change in the world that need to come. This is why Passing the Torch is so important.
We will join hands and hearts and empower these visions for Peace, Prosperity, and Healing in billowing clouds of Sacred Smoke with our Ansisters and Ancestors cheering us onward.We will do this with lightness of heart and joyful spirits as we once again...
