2007 Festival Dedication
This has been an incredibly hard couple of years for me and for this Festival. Losing Cherie and Cathleen, our wonderful Kitchen Witches, and two of my best friends in a tragic accident in 2005 was horrible.
On Jan 26 2006, the planet lost a very bright light.
My ex wife and best friend of 14 years, Tara Allen Silverfox died suddenly in the jungles of Ecuador where she was seeking healing and successfully saving a piece of that Rainforest.
Tara was a tremendous supporter and contributor to the Wise Woman's Festival as well as producer of the Wise Woman's Tarot. My personal loss is beyond words as we were partners in creating magic and culture even after we ceased being marriage partners.
This year's Festival is dedicated to Tara without whose help, this festival would not have gotten off of the ground! In my Wise Woman's Tarot, the Star card is represented by the Goddess Tara whose name means Star in Sanskrit. The meaning of that card is hope and bright new beginnings and concepts and points to the future. I am sure that she will be lighting our way on this journey.
Her life was about honoring and appreciating other cultures. She was a world traveler and spiritual seeker until her last day on this earth. This festival was a place where she could express and share her varied spiritual leanings and truly spread light and laughter wherever she walked.
Tara also gave material/financial support for this festival each year as well because she really believed in what we were doing here to elevate the lives of women, animals and the whole planet.
It's hard to believe that we will not see her smiling face shining in the East or eating some sumptuous vegetarian meal surrounded by women with a million conversations going on at once.
I know for sure though that Tara as well as Cherie and Cathleen will all be joining us in Spirit. So, if you feel like dancing like a dervish, know that Tara has taken your hand and if a warm breeze passes by and you feel your heart fill with love, know that you are being blessed by these 3 wonderful women and welcome them home for a visit.
I will never forget Tara, Cherie or Cathleen and I know that any of you who have been touched by them have them forever in your hearts as well.
