2005 Festival Dedication
Cherie and Cathleen, my dear friends and our kitchen witches, will be joining us this year from beyond the veil but you can be sure that they will be stirring it up with spice and humor.Who knows how they may surprise us with their presence now! If you see someone who looks like they need to feel more welcome, reach out and take their hand and know that the "girls" have the other hand.
WE DEDICATE THIS FESTIVAL TO THE MEMORY OF CHERIE AND CATHLEEN, THE KITCHEN WITCHES AND HONOR THEM WITH THE PEELS OF OUR JOY AND LAUGHTER... THEY WOULDN'T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY!
Soulquakes as these rock the fabric of our lives,we are never the same...hopefully we are split open to a more open hearted way of being and feeling. I can say that there is evidence of this in my life and in Melrose where many who were casual friends are now family. The comfort of a familiar face that you know with out speaking is feeling your pain and shares your loss means everything.
It matters little if your grief is as deep as mine or your words come out in the same manner but it does matter how we feel and that there is a common soulquake that we are experiencing together,the uncertainty,shattering shattering blasts of a reality too tragic and horrific to digest in one sitting. A shockwave that extends deep into the core of us, into the entire community. We thought that we saw storms this summer!!
And now, we witness yet another tragedy as the Gulf Coast as its people and animals drown in a sea of racism, poverty and government complicity, and yet we must and do stand for elevation beyond blame.
Yes life goes on and we will laugh and cry together and apart with our memories and fight to make better laws and to keep their murderer incarcerated.
We need to widen our circles and keep the DREAM OF PEACE AND LOVE not only alive with their dream and ours, but thriving and expanding to embrace all the people who so badly need love ,community and friendship.
We can be an Oasis for each other in this storm. This, our Tsunami that has washed Cherie and Cathleen out into the Great Cosmic Sea on Horseback into the Moonlight til we meet again on the other side of the Veil somwhere beyond Sirius and the Pleides.
Somewhere there is a place on some distant shore where in the starlight the two lovers embrace wrapped in moonlight and sarongs and with a sparkle in their eyes they smile as they look down on the little town of Melrose and all the satelites that extend from here across the country now and feel their hearts swell with pride and joy at the blossoming love that they have left behind.
