Environmentalism as a Religious Act

Environmental activism allows the participant to gain an intimate and tactile experience of Divinity. By participating in everyday acts of activism and by joining group events the participant expands their relationship with Divinity and Humanity while serving both. The benefit to humanity is sometimes lost in the rhetoric of the Environmental Activist Movement. This workshop will look at several aspects of Environmentalism. From simply prescribed actions to help make our world a cleaner, healthier place to live, to hands on restructuring of environmentally afflicted areas, the discussion of "why" will focus on our relationship to Divinity.

This relationship, with Divinity can be one of direct interaction, without mediation, without guides, without teachers; the seekers, touching, serving, and caring directly for Divinity and Divinity responding. Concepts of Divinity differ greatly, so a brief amount of time will be spent on how different concepts of Divinity perceive different acts. The main focus will be on expanding the conceptual base of religious acts so that more of what we do as Environmentalists is perceived to be an act of religious devotion. By allowing ourselves to recognize each other as acting in a devotional manner, we unify ourselves across theological lines, and enliven the movement both for Neopaganism and for Environmentalism.

The Art of Moving Energy:
Healing and Sacred Sexuality

The art of moving energy is the art of living fully in our power. Our initiation begins with our first breath of life. In ancient practices initiates were taught the power of moving energy to awaken the kundalini, to access unlimited creativity, and for healing. There has never been a time when this information was needed more than today.

In this workshop you will learn to cultivate, move, transform and store energy. We will explore the relationship between energy and health, creativity, love and sexuality. We are living in an ever-changing, pulsing, passionate matrix of energy. Learn how to interface with this matrix and call forth your passion and creativity. Find out how you can become a super-conductor of energy, eliminating resistance in your body to the powerful flow of universal energy.

Omito

Omitowade Salewa Ajamu is a lifetime priestess of Yemoja, raised in the Aftican ancestral spirutual tradition of the Yoruba. Along with the ordinary demands for drumming and chanting which are part of her priesthood Omito has especially developed her skill as an African dancer and fine arts painter, to further reveal the depth of her cultural heritage. Pieces by her are hanging in several institutions from South Florida to South Carolina. She has long given workshops in these arts all over the US and Jamaica. When not teaching or doing spiritual work, Omito spends time with her 4-year-old daughter who teachers her refinements of dance guided by a spirit source beyond this world.

African Dance

Dancing us into awareness, Omito will illustrate in movement some of the differences between secular African dance and dances done specifically to honor each of three goddesses or "orisha" of the Yoruba tradition: Oya, Yemoja and Osun. She will then demostrate traditional movements and costumes, and share with us the symbolic meaning involved in these steps, gestures and African outfits. At the end she will model and make available a few traditional dance head wraps (gele) and hip wraps (lapa) for those who might like to buy a set.
